2022 Set to Be a Promising Year for Belfast Business Community says venYou Director
Donna Linehan Lays out Her Top Reasons Why Belfast is Fantastic Place to do Business
With Belfast being ranked the best place in the UK to start a new business last year, according to a study conducted by Hitachi Capital Invoice Finance, and also being named Tech hub to watch, it’s clear to see that the future of Belfast’s business community could be quite exciting, writes Donna Linehan, venYou Client Services Director.
Recent research conducted by Barclays Eagle Labs claims that 2022 has been identified as the year of growth for business, an extremely promising outlook after the challenges of the last two years.
If you are considering starting a business or if you’re thinking about establishing an office in Belfast, I have outlined my top four reasons why the city is a fantastic place to do business.
1. Lower office rates
In comparison to other cities like London or Dublin, the cost of office rent in Belfast is significantly lower – in some cases over half. Salaries in Belfast are also one third lower than other major European cities, making it an extremely cost-effective location for your business.
Plus, if you choose to establish your business within a venYou serviced office (the Scottish Provident Building, Ascot House or Northern Court), your manageable monthly payments will include reception, mail handling and housekeeping services. We only ask our clients to pay for what they require, and we are agile at meeting the needs of our clients if they require to expand or contract their business.
2. Belfast is a small city with lots to offer
You might think that establishing your business within a small city could be quite limiting, but that’s really not the case when it comes to Belfast. A small city means convenience. Everything you could ever need is no more than a stone’s throw away including airports, ports and major transport links such as trains and bus depots. With a great infrastructure network, Belfast is approximately two hours from Derry/Londonderry and Dublin by road or rail.
Furthermore, if you take an office at the Scottish Provident Building or Ascot House, you’ll be close to a number of Belfast’s top bars, restaurants, cafes and hotels should you wish to host a client meeting off site or host a social for your employees.
Having a business in a smaller city also means greater networking opportunities and better support from the business community including organisations such as Invest Northern Ireland, and various Chambers of Commerce.
3. Belfast has a huge amount of talent to offer
For such a small country, Northern Ireland has a lot of talent on offer when it comes to recruiting the right employees for your business. Belfast alone has two top performing Universities – Queen’s University and Ulster University – alongside various further education colleges, offering courses in law, finance, medicine, IT and accountancy to name but a few.
With access to some of Northern Ireland’s top educated graduates, your business will have the best employees to help make it a success!
4. Innovation is in our blood
Innovative industries such as ship building, architecture, rope making and Irish linen mills are what Belfast was founded upon. Currently, Belfast is home to renewable technologies, cognitive robotics, cancer research and IT technologies, all of which are helping to change lives around the world.
With innovation and so much more well and truly in our blood, the real question is, why wouldn’t you establish your business in Belfast?
